Oude vervallen, veelal antieke medische boeken vormen de bron voor nieuw werk in de kringloop van het bestaan.

 

Door een rijke fantasie en door elk object met precisie uit te knippen, ontstaan er collages waar lichamen in duinpartijen veranderen. Vissen door koraalriffen van tanden en kiezen zwemmen. Surrealistische landschappen met paddenstoelen en spieren.​ Voeg daarbij het gebruik van ecoline met zijn heldere kleuren. Dit alles resulteert in collages met soms absurde situaties of verstilde stillevens. Soms heeft het werk een verborgen boodschap, die de kijker zelf mag invullen.

 

Op de middelbare school kwam ik in aanraking met het werk van Dadaïsten, waaronder ook collages. Rauw en fascinerend vond ik ze. Zelf maakte ik door de jaren heen ook wel eens een collage, maar daar bleef het bij. Het kwartje viel pas echt toen ik mijn vriendin leerde kennen die voor arts studeerde. Vooral in de oude medische boeken stonden platen met prachtige kleuren, altijd tot in detail getekend. In mijn gedachten maakte ik de eerste composities, die nu tot wasdom komen. 
 

Old dilapidated, mostly antique medical books are the source of new work in the cycle of existence.

 

Through a rich imagination and by cutting out each object with surgical precision, collages are created where bodies change into dunes. Fish swim through coral reefs of teeth. Surreal landscapes with mushrooms and muscles. Add to this the use of ecoline with its bright colours. All this results in collages with sometimes absurd situations or tranquil still lives.Sometimes the work has a hidden message, which the viewer can fill in himself.

In high school I came into contact with the work of Dadaists, including collages. I found them raw and fascinating. Over the years I also made a collage myself, but that was it. The penny dropped when I met my girlfriend who was studying to be a doctor. Especially in the old medical books there were plates with beautiful colors, always drawn in great detail. In my mind I made the first compositions, which are now coming to fruition.
